State budget allows Color Line to replace 700 Norwegian jobs with foreign labor
The government’s proposal in the state budget 2019 can give Color Line an opportunity to replace 700 Norwegian jobs with foreign labor.
The government has proposed to implement the regulatory change that allows Color Line to flag about the company’s Kiel ferries.
Implementation of the change will allow Color Line to register the ships on the routes between Oslo and Kiel in the Norwegian International Ship Register (NIS).
The two Kiel ferries are currently registered in the Norwegian Ordinary Ship Register (NOR).
If the change is adopted, Color Line will be able to replace the 700 Norwegian employees on these ferries with foreign labor. It was E24 who first mentioned the matter.
NOK 349 million proposed to prevent flooding and landslide damage
In the new state budget proposal of 2019, a total of NOK 349 million ha been allocated for the better prevention of flooding and landslide damages.
These are funds from the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy’s budget. In addition, 45 million will be secured in Longyearbyen, covered by the Ministry of Justice’s budget.
It is proposed to strengthen the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE) in order for the Directorate to be able to assist the municipalities with knowledge about drainage and guidance in area planning.
In addition, NVE’s snow forecast is expanding to new regions.
The government will also increase the appropriation for overtaking by NOK 13 million. This in order for the NVE in 2019 to be able to assist municipalities in the management of overcrowding in cities and densely populated areas.
