Lake Crater Lake in Oregon on the American West Coast is about 600 meters deep and is ranked as the deepest lake in the United States, the second deepest lake in America and the seventh deepest lake in the world.
It is not the first time hikers have fallen off the steep slopes that surround the lake, covering the remains of the sleeping, ruined Mount Mazama volcano. About 7,700 years ago, a massive volcanic eruption took place, triggering tons of lava over a vast area. The eruption should have been more than forty times as powerful as the eruption of Mount St. Helena in 1980.
By May of this year, a man was rescued when he fell during a visit to the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park .
The Oregon National Park has several times warned against the danger of crashes as rock and snow on the crater’s edge can provide an unstable surface.
“Every year, some visitors go too close and fall, often resulting in serious injury or death. Our guards are trained to save these people, but it can take hours to get to them, and they also endanger us , “said the Facebook.
Crater Lake has no inlet or outlet, and the color of the water is dazzling blue.
According to Wikipedia, the edge of the volcanic crater is 2,400 meters above sea level at its highest.
The average height of the lake itself is 1,883 meters above sea level.
The unfortunate hiker was later picked up and flown out of a rescue helicopter. According to CNN , the state of health is uncertain.
