The Supreme Court has rejected the appeal from a 19-year-old from Kristiansand who is sentenced to 18 days’ imprisonment after a ski accident in Telemark in February 2017.
A 10-year-old girl was injured for life in the accident. The Danish girl slowly drove down the blue hill in the Gautefall ski resort in Drangedal in Telemark when the then 17-year-old male skier suddenly came across a suspension and thundered into her at full speed.
The skiing skier, who is 19 years old, was convicted of negligent driving both in the district court and in the Court of Appeal. In the Court of Appeal, he was sentenced to 18 days conditional prison and to pay NOK 75,000 in compensation to the girl.
At Christmas, her mother said that the girl is still struggling with major injuries in her right leg and that she is struggling psychologically for what happened. She is at least 20 percent disabled.
The 19-year-old believed he could not do anything different and appealed the case to the Supreme Court.
