Terje Søviknes, former Minister of Petroleum and Energy, has now decided to be the councilor in the new, large-scale county of Vestland.
Just a few days back he resigned from the government as minister of the state. His departure was justified as he would spend some more time with family. He returns to work as mayor in Os municipality, a position he has been granted leave from while he has been in the government.
“I have been in the county policy earlier, and today I am going to report to the nomination committee in Vestland Frp that I am willing to stand as the first candidate at the elections next year,” says Søviknes to NRK on Friday.
He says that it will be exciting to be able to shape a new county when Hordaland and Sogn og Fjordane will settle into Vestland.
Søviknes says that it is a good idea to be both a county politician and a municipal politician. However, he is aware that it is the mayor’s job in Os he will prioritize.
