Øivind “Raymon” Johannessen dies at 67

Comedian and revival actor Øivind Johannessen, perhaps best known as Raymon, died on Sunday. He was  67 years old.

Local newspaper Democrat reported the death of  Øivind “Raymon” Johannessen on Monday morning.

Øivind Johannessen grew up in the Old Town of Fredrikstad and was well known as Elvis imitator and toured all over Norway with his King Kong show in the 1970s. In the 80’s he became the part of the revival group Tre Kæll who set up revues and shows throughout Eastern Norway.

Most famous, however, was Øivind Johannessen as the character figure Raymon who became known and loved all over the country. The figure was created by the writer Ragnar “Joker ” Pedersen.

Øivind Johannessen received Leif Juster’s honors award in 2004.
