NOK 25 million for reinforcement of bridges

The Ministry of Transport and Communications sets NOK 25 million for reinforcement of bridges on county roads.
The report says that a total of NOK 300 million has been allocated in a National Transport Plan (NTP) program. The funds will be used to reinforce bridges that can not tolerate 60 tonnes of weight on the county road network.

“This will help reduce transport costs for timber transport so that we can be competitive in the future,” says Transport Minister Jon Georg Dale (Frp).

NOK 25 million is set aside for the improvement in the state budget for 2019. Dale says that it will be set at NOK 50 million each year for a six-year period ahead. In the long run, the amount will be stepped up.

Today there are a total of 11,350 bridges and ferry cows on the county road network. 1,050 bridges are not approved for 60 tonnes, according to the Norwegian Forestry Association.
