Man charged for attempted murder in Sandefjord

A man in his 20s is charged with attempted murder after a rape incident in an apartment in Sandefjord center Monday.

Just after 7 am on Monday morning the police received a phone call from a man in his 40s in Sandefjord who said he was beaten by a younger man he was visiting.

The police moved out and found that the man in his 40s was subjected to blunt violence.

He was flown to Oslo University Hospital with air ambulance.

The man in his 20s was arrested on the spot and later charged with attempted murder.

– It is the extent of the violence and the state of the offended that we have charged him for attempted murder. That’s what we have to go on now, says police lawyer Fredrik Borg Johannessen in the Southeastern Police District of NTB

He says it was the offender who even called the police and explained that he needed help. The police are not aware of whether there is a relationship between the offender and the accused.

“However, it seems that they have had some knowledge of each other, because there are no signs that the accused entered the apartment of the offender,” says Johannessen.

The police have no knowledge of the extent of the damage.

Lawyer Søren Hellenes is appointed as the defendant’s defendant.

He has not yet spoken to his client and will therefore not comment on the case.
