The US-backed rebellion alliance, SDF, says they will continue the fight against IS’s last enclave east of Syria if no more civilians leave the area on Saturday.
– Our strengths are clear. If no civilians leave the area on Saturday, it means there are no more civilians left. Then our military operations will start in the evening to take control of the IS ‘last controlled territory, says Mustafa Bali Friday, spokesman for the Kurdish SDF forces.
The SDF therefore asks civilians and family members of IS fighters left in Baghouz to evacuate before Saturday night.
Thousands have already been evacuated from the area. On Tuesday, 400 IS warriors attempted to flee Baghouz, but were arrested by the SDF forces.
Baghouz is located east of Syria, near the border with Iraq.
