Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has arrived Iraq on his first official visit, according to Iraqi state television.
Rouhani landed in Baghdad Monday morning and will meet both President Barham Salih and Prime Minister Abdel Abdul Mehdi during the visit. He will also meet a number of other politicians and jailers.
The visit is Rouhanis first since he became president in Iran in 2013.
The visit comes at the same time as Iran is under great pressure from US President Donald Trump after he drew the United States from the international nuclear agreement on Iran.
The visit shows how much has happened in the relationship between the two countries since the 1980s when Saddam Hussein invaded Iran. The invasion led to an eight-year war in which 1 million people were killed.
