Fire erupted on Norwegian trawler Langenes in Rogaland

Fire erupted in engine room of Norwegian trawler LANGENES on Sept 11th afternoon. Trawler was around 79 nautical miles west to Sola in Rogaland.
Langenes had 20 people onboard, 14 of them were airlifted to safety by helicopter once the rescue team was informed. Soon agter around 19 o’çlock  trawler started taking water and six people remained on board.
Later in the evening, when the flames had already been checked, the crew got lenses delivered from the Seaking helicopter. A further four people were evacuated to a nearby rig.

Two people have stayed at Langenes during the evening and night in an attempt to rescue the vessel. At 4 o’clock on Wednesday, HRS announces that the coast guard vessel Sortland has begun to tow the fishing trawler to land.

– The situation on board is under control. HRS Sør-Norge thank everyone who contributed to good efforts, they write on Twitter.

No person was injured in the fire.

The trawler belongs to Engenes Fiskeriselskap. According to the marine fishing industry, Fishing Boat is 56 meters long, 12 meters wide and was built in Ålesund in 1986. According to Stavanger Aftenblad, the trawler has recently been in a workshop for three weeks.
