Ebola epidemic in Congo has taken 164 lives so far

According to Congo’s health authorities, the ongoing outbreak of the lethal disease Ebola in the east of Congo has taken 164 lives so far.

Since the beginning of August, almost 222 confirmed cases of Ebola have been reported in the region.

In the city of Beni near the border with Uganda, the Congolese authorities are in anticipation of the new wave of Ebola.

More than 11,300 people have died after being diagnosed with Ebola on West Africa since 2013. After the major outbreak was over in 2015, several sporadic cases of infection have been recorded.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), a vaccine against Ebola, which has 100 percent effect, may be available from 2018.
