Denmark calls for EU countries to support sanctions against Iran

Foreign Minister Anders Samuelsen is calling for EU-country support to impose sanctions on Iranians after a Norwegian Iranian planned killing in Denmark.

Denmark will submit with the demand during the EU Foreign Assembly Monday.

“I imagine that Samuelsen will address this when we discuss Iran. To us, it is largely a matter of solidarity, because it is about the security of the member states , says an EU diplomat in Brussels.

The Danish reaction comes after a Norwegian Iranians were sentenced to have planned an attack in Denmark. The man has planned to kill three members of the Iranian insurgent group ASMLA, who lives in Denmark. France, Belgium and Germany have also experienced attacks from Iranian teams against residents of the countries.

It is crucial that the Danes convince the EU countries that the Danish sanctions have nothing to do with either the nuclear agreement or the US sanctions.
