After a corpse was found in her freezer, a Croatian woman was arrested, suspected of having killed her sister 18 years ago.
It informs the prosecution on Sunday.
23-year-old Jasmina Dominic studied in Zagreb when she disappeared in 2000. Now the police suspect that it is her frozen remains found after the sister’s home was searched in the northern village of Mala Subotica.
Saturday, a 45-year-old woman was arrested in the village in connection with the investigation, spokesman for the local police, Nenad Risak told AFP. She is suspected of having killed her sister in 2000 or 2001 and for having hidden the body in a freezer in the hallway of the first floor of the house, said in a statement.
“We expect that the body found in the freezer is a woman born in 1977, whose disappearance was reported on August 16, 2005,” says Risak.
Although Dominic has been away since 2000, it took the family five years to report to the police. Dominic’s late father stated in 2011 that her daughter told him in 2000 that she would start working on a cruise ship.
The police say they suspect that the body of the freezer has been killed, but awaits results from the autopsy before they conclude. Risak will not give more details about how they got on the track of the body in the freezer.
