Cristiano Ronaldo will not play for Portugal in 2018

According to the Portuguese media, Cristiano Ronaldo will not be seen in Purtugal jersey for the rest of 2018. Ronaldo did not play Portugal’s match against Croatia or in the Nations League match against Italy in September.

The reason behind this must have been that he would have to get ready for his new club Juventus. Now Portuguese media reports that the Juventus star thanks no to the next two national team collections.

Ronaldo took the decision not to be called up for the commitments after having a discussion with national team chief Fernando Santos and Portuguese football president Fernando Gomes. After the tripartite meeting, it was decided that it is best not to count on the player at this time period.

The decision is, however, particular and timely. The player made it clear that he will never give up the national team and the decision does not mean a lesser commitment to the team. Ronaldo also said that he hopes to represent the team in the future.

The renowned player is going through a rough phase since last week after a woman accused him of raping her.
