Luis Suárez must endure the thaw of the day after the tip of the striker has reached five matches. Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde has patience with the Uruguayan.
The 32-year-old has 168 goals in 231 Barcelona matches. It gives a fifth place on the big club’s list of all time-winning players. But lately, Suárez has been criticized for weak scoring.
He has 16 goals this season, including a hat-trick against Real Madrid in October, but has only one poor online session last month. Valverde takes the lead in defense before Sunday’s away meeting with Seville.
– Luis Suárez guarantees us chances in every match. It is difficult for us to be without him, says Valverde and adds:
– It’s not the first time he’s got this focus on him. Previously, he has returned by scoring many goals. In the last two games he has had clear chances to score. Me and everyone else are patient because he is a great player.
When Barcelona was held to 0-0 against Lyon in the midweek, Suárez pitched 25 hours without scoring or delivering a purposeful away-care pass into the championship league. Last time he found the meshes of foreign grass in the European Cup, was against Rome in September 2015.
