Northern Irish writer Anna Burns is the winner of this year’s Man Booker International Prize. She was awarded by the Duchess Camilla of Cornwall in London.
On Tuesday night Burns received the award for her fiction novel “Milkman”.
After five years, a woman has won this award. Anna Burns is the first Irish writer to get the award.
The prize is one of the most prestigious international book prizes in the world and the winner is awarded £ 50.00, i.e. around $ 532,000.
The award goes to a work translated into English and published in the UK. The prize was awarded for the first time in 1969.
