Russia entered the civil war in Syria to support Bashar al-Assad’s regime in 2015. According to Russian Defense Minister nearly 88,000 rebels have been killed in Syria for the past three years Russia has participated in the war.
On Saturday, Defense Minister Sergei Sjoigu said during a meeting in Singapore that 87,500 rebels have been killed and 1,411 settlements have been released since Russia entered the war three years ago.
According to the reports of the Exile Group of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), the civil war in Syria broke out nearly seven and a half years ago and has cost around 365,000 lives of people.
Sjoigu also noted that Russian forces have carried out more than 40,000 bomb attacks, which have hit 120,000 “terrorist targets”. Syrian government forces now control over 90 percent of the country’s area, according to Sjoigu.
